Built within the Citadel by Mohamed Ali in 1830, it is known as the Alabaster Mosque due to the alabaster coating on its interior and exterior walls. The high dome is 52 metres high with a diameter of 21 metres. The two minarets on the east side of the mosque are 84 metres high.
