The town of Bathurst in the Eastern Cape is a 10 minute drive inland from Port Alfred. A significant attraction in the area is The Big Pineapple on Summerville Farm just outside the hamlet. It claimes to be the biggest pineapple on the planet standing over 16 m high with three stories inside the building including a shop and a museum to the pineapple industry in the area.
