Gazankulu

1975

A propaganda film aiming to extol the virtue of the apartheid policy of separate development, championing the progress made in the area’s industrial and public sectors. The film focuses on the bantustan of Gazankulu, intended by the apartheid government to be a semi-independent homeland for the Tsonga people. Created in the 1960s in the northern part of the former Transvaal province, Gazankulu was granted self governing status in 1973.
