This song is an acoustic version of a traditional spiritual song in honour of the Prophet. This music style is known as medeh, and it is the most common traditional music currently performed in the Saharawi refugee camps. The lyrics are traditional but the music has been rearranged by Mahmud, following the guitar style of the late years of Spanish colonialism. It is performed in the scale liyen of the azawaan music style. The performance occasion was a set of recording sessions done by a group of Saharawi sound students at the new Studio-Live recording centre in Boujdour. They were done over two days with musicians Mahmud and Suleiman, who accompanied one another on the guitar in the different tunes they performed.
