Article reprint of her work originally published in the Bulletin de L'Institut francais d'Afrique noire (XXIX, series B., nos. 1-2, 1967), and illustrations of glyphs appearing on tusks from Southern Nigeria, representing animals, humans, objects and symbols, used as illustrations for her article.
