1899-1902 Boer War Memorial Colesberg Cemetery Northern Cape. Colesberg featured prominently in the 1899-1902 conflict between Imperial Britain and the republican Boers of the Orange Free State and Transvaal. In fact some 400 soldiers from various British regiments (20 different units altogether) are buried in the military cemetery. Thr British soldiers were originally buried at Suffolk Hill, Worcester Hill, Norvalsport and Colesberg town cemetery and were relocated to this Military Cemetery memorial site at the entrance to Colesberg. Most of the British solders fell at the battle of Worcester Hill on the 13th February 1900. The Graves were relocated by the South African War Graves Board in 1965.
