Edited, improved and published by J.W. Norie. This edition includes detailed navigation charts, sailing directions (issued separately) and coastal profiles, by Tofino, Thomas Clements, Michelot, Ayrouard, Young, Wilson etal. Engraved by John Stephenson. It consists of 228 navigation charts on 15 double page plates. Plate 1 consists 4 charts. Plate 2-14 consist 4 parts of 4 charts on each plate, with numbering continuing on the next plate. Showing sandbanks, anchorages, harbors, major cities, ports, towns, buildings, roads, bays, buoys, forts, landmarks, shorelines, lighthouses, coastal profiles, mountains and islands. Charts decorated with compass roses and title cartouche, some include exploration notes. Relief shown pictorially. Depths shown by isolines, soundings and rhumb lines. Bound in brown leather covers, with label pasted on front cover, printed with "Mediterranean harbor pilot”.
