Woodcut map of Egypt, featuring the Nile River. Relief shown pictorially. Decorative cartouche. Map 26 x 34 cm, on sheet 29 x 37 cm. Generally regarded as the first modern map of Egypt. Abraham Ortelius would later use Forlani's map as the prototype for his map of Egypt. Forlani was among the leading Venetian mapmakers active in the 1560s and 1570s. His work is often referred to as part of the "Lafreri School" of mapmakers.
