Scale model of the Royal Sovereign sailing ship, Cape Town Festival, 1975

Historic ships

In time for festival: Mr Alexander Sinnet of Swift Street, Salt River, puts the finishing touches to a scale model of the Royal Sovereign, which was built in 1637. All parts of the model are hand-made and Mr Sinnet has tried to make everything as authentic as possible. It took him almost three-and-a-half years to complete the model and it will be ready just in time for a boat show during the Cape Town Festival.
