1973-05-05

The charred ruins of the old Camps Bay pavilion stands today as a sad monument after a fire ripped through the 57-year-old building early today. It destroyed the equipment and the dreams of the Camps Bay Operatic and Dramatic Society and one of Cape Town's best-known landmarks. Damage is estimated at thousands of rands and the City Council's Amenities Committee is expected to look over the ruins during a scheduled tour of Camps Bay tomorrow.
