Qualified teacher pickets outside Department of Education, Cape Town

Lone picket ... Mr Enver Sherry of Athlone, a qualified teacher who claims to have been unsuccessful in his application for 40 official posts two years, is staging a series of one-man pickets outside the Department of Education and Culture offices in the Western Cape. Mr Sherry, who currently has a temporary teacher's post at Blomvlei Primary School in Hanover Park, said that he applied for teaching positions advertised in the education bulletin. The Cape Teachers' Professional Association said in response that it had placed advertisements and sent out letters asking unemployed teachers to notify the association of their plight.
