Railway station being demolished, Cape Town

16/02/1967

Bulldozers (centre of picture) are cutting a swath through the old main line railway station to make way for a new road leading into the centre of the city. From Adderley Street, the new freeway, an extension of Strand Street, will carry the Sea Point traffic bound for the suburbs, straight to the Castle, then to the traffic interchange at the old market. There the new street will join the Eastern Boulevard.
