Oral interview, conducted in Johannesburg, with Alexander Hepple (1904-1983), politician and author, a member of the South African parliament for the white socialist Labour Party from 1953 to 1958, and edited its newspaper "Forward". He chaired the Treason Trial Defence Fund (1956-1961), and later ran the International Defence and Aid Fund information service in London. He was the author of a biography of Hendrik Verwoerd (1967) and of South Africa: a Political and Economic History (1966).
