H. Jackson, concerning equality and civil rights in Africa; Johnston states "we want to keep a hold on African imports and exports and their connection with German commerce until Germany has repaid a fair share of the war burden; and we want in Africa to solve the great problem of the fusion of interests between the white and the coloured races of mankind."
