Mules with their keeper, Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, 1928

In the court of the rented mission station the mules Erna v. Wriedel and Middels, in the middle an Ethiopian keeper, holding the reins. In exchange for donations, which made it possible for the Hermannsburg mission to buy mules for the caravan, the mules were named after the German donators.
