Bathing a baby's eyes, Nigeria, ca. 1935

Black and white photograph showing Matron of the Methodist Missionary Society Hospital at Ama Achara. Emily Godfrey bathes the eyes of a baby, who is held by its mother in a Nigerian village. A young boy stands and watches the procedure. A goat can also be seen in the yard, and Emily Godfrey's hat rests on the wall of the house. This treatment probably took place as part of travelling medical work. This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey.
