Portrait photograph of Primitive Methodist Missionary Society missionary Miss M Brazier with her Guide troop at Umuahia in modern Abia state, southeast Nigeria. Miss Brazier wears a smart women's suit and hat, and the guides all wear uniform of a white blouse, neck-tie with badge and a calf length skirt. The guides wear head-wraps around their heads. One guide holds up the troop banner, which reads: "GIRLS LIFE BRIGADE 1st UMUAHIA COMPANY." This image comes from a photograph collection kept by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Methodist Hospital at Ama Achara from 1921 to 1944.
