Black and white photograph of a patient at the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital, Nigeria, run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society (later the Methodist Missionary Society.) The picture features a Nigerian man called Gilbert, and another female patient of the hospital. The female patient wears a wrap around her waist and a head-wrap (or "gele") and has a small child standing at her feet. The caption to the photograph reads: "Gilbert - rescued from death & another patient." This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital.
