Black and white photograph showing a group of Nigerian and European staff at the hospital at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria, sitting with a group of child patients. The hospital was run by the Methodist Missionary Society. The children range in age from very small babies to toddlers. As well as handling local births, the hospital dealt with many abandoned babies, particularly twins, who were considered to be unlucky in local tradition. This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital.
