Long Canoe Carrying Sand Across for Road Repair, Calabar, Nigeria, ca. 1930-1940

Tinted lantern slide showing a long wooden canoe on the water (perhaps the Calabar River) carrying barrels of sand to be used in road repair. Seven individuals travel on the canoe, four at the front of the vessel and three people rowing at the rear. This slide comes from a set on mission, culture and industry in Calabar, southeast Nigeria generated by the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church of Scotland (which was incorporated with the Church of Scotland in 1929.)
