Two juxtaposed black and white photographs showing Sarah, a Nigerian girl connected with the Ama Achara Hospital run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society. In the first photograph, Sarah is picked out as a tall girl with a book balanced upon her head. Four smaller girls stand in front of her, also balancing books on their heads, in height order. A cross has been drawn on Sarah's head, and the photograph is labelled "1922." The second photograph features Sarah in 1926 - again she is marked with a cross. She sits with another Nigerian lady, a Nigerian man and two children. Two European missionaries stand at either side of the group. The group poses in front of mission houses. The caption below the image reads: "(1) Sarah, Dinah, Grace, Sue & Jeanette 1924. (2) Sarah & others 1926. Miss Jeffrey." This image comes from a photograph collection kept by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Methodist Hospital at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria, from 1921 to 1944.
