Black and white photograph showing the congregation and teacher at the opening of the church at Umu Oba (now known as Umuoba.) The congregation members are solely men and boys, and the Nigerian teacher stands a little to the side of the seated group. The caption on the reverse of the photograph reads: "Members & teacher at the opening of Umu Oba church. Around July 1929." This image comes from a photograph collection kept by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Methodist Hospital run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria, from 1921 to 1944.
