Black and white photograph showing staff and patients at the Ama Achara hospital run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary society in modern Abia state, southeast Nigeria. The European missionary seated on the right of the image is nurse Emily Godfrey, the first Matron of Ama Achara hospital, who worked there from 1921 to 1944. The European missionary on the opposite side of the image may be as Miss Leggatt, the first evangelist sent to Ama Achara hospital with Emily Godfrey. They are seated with Nigerian nursing staff and patients and child patients of the hospital. This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey.
