Black and white photograph printed onto a postcard showing two Nigerian children cared for by the pioneer missionary Mary Slessor, who worked in Calabar from 1876 to her death in 1915. The children wear smocks, and the smaller child holds a straw hat. This image comes from a photograph collection kept by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Methodist Hospital run by the Methodist Missionary Society at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria, from 1921 to 1944. Photographic material on Mary Slessor was sent to Emily Godfrey by a Mrs McCullough.
