The nurses all suffer from leprosy. They are photographed next to the leper colony bell. The caption to this image reads: "Three nurses (Lepers.)" This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital, also run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society.
