Sunday and his sister, Nigeria, ca. 1925

Black and white photograph of a small boy named Sunday and his sister, photographed at the hospital at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria, run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society. Sunday is four and his sister is eight. The young girl sits on a wooden bench next to a tin bath in the hospital grounds. Sunday stands next to her, wearing a white shirt. Sunday's sister has a large plaster-cast around one ankle. The caption to this image reads: "Sunday - aged 4 who attended to his sister aged 8. She had double pneumonia & a septic ankle." This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital.
