1935

"Besuch freundlicher Priester auf der [Missions-] Station. Gratulieren zur Auferstehung des Herrn. So ziehen sie an dem Tage von einem großen Haus zum anderen, überall, wo sie erwarten ein mehr oder weniger großes Stück Geld als Gabe zu bekommen" ("Visit of friendly priests at the [mission] station. Congratulate to the resurrection of the Lord. Thus they move on this day from one big house to the other, everywhere, where they expect to get a more or less big piece of money as donation"). Group of 7 Ethiopians, some of them with cloaks, dresses, parasols, and sticks. Three Ethiopian young men are wearing cloaks and headbands. One of them is holding a partly wrapped Ethiopian metal cross, the others bundles of twigs or straw wrapped in cloth. Adolf Müller (1905-1936) was a mission artisan of the Hermannsburg mission. He started his work as a missionary in Ethiopia in 1927. From 1928 he served in Aira, later in Bedele. He was married to Minna, née Nottorf. In may 1936 he left Bedele with his wife and baby to flee to Adis Abeba. He was killed on the way in an attack on the caravan.
