"The Manse." Exterior view of the manse at Blantyre, Nyasaland [Malawi]. The development of the Blantyre Mission, including its manse and 'square', was properly begun in 1877. In 1878 the post of an ordained minister was filled by the arrival of the Rev Duff Macdonald, a graduate of Aberdeen University. The original stone manse was demolished and a new one made of brick was built in 1883.
