"Headteacher's House (Native)." Exterior view of headteacher's house, Blantyre, Nyasaland [Malawi]. Two Africans stand in the foreground. The Blantyre mission excelled in medical and education provision, and a school was opened very soon after the mission was established in 1876. A decision was made early in the 20th century to centralise advanced education at Blantyre. From 1907 the colonial government started contributing small grants of money to missionary educational efforts.
