"Zomba. Rev J. F. Alexander and his beadle." Portrait of Scottish clergyman and his church assistant, standing on a verandah. The Reverend James Frederick Alexander (1882-1941) was ordained in 1908 and sent out to Nyasaland that year. He served in Domasi, Zomba and Blantyre until his retirement in 1938. He was married to Janet (Nita) Simson Brown, 29 August 1917. He wrote ‘Kulemekeza kwa mulungu' [The Worship of God] a devotional manual in the Manganja dialect.
