Group of Nyasaland Children, Malawi, ca. 1914-1918

Black and white lantern slide showing a large group of boys and girls who stand in a semi-circle in front of a large thatched building that may be a mission school. Girls wear dresses, and boys are mostly bare chested with either wraps worn around their waists or shorts. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland. It was originally held by the Church of Scotland, and generated by J.W MacKay.
