In this speech Du Bois advises the newly independent nation of Ghana to research the history of Africa and to promote the study of science as the bases of knowledge to help work toward a future in which a socialist Ghana will "loose the genius now imprisoned by poverty and emancipate the ability now enslaved by ignorance."
