Church conference, Elim, South Africa, 1930

1930

"Elim. Die Brüder d. neuen K.K.. Ehrenbogen für die K.K." ("Elim. The Brothers [of] t[he] new c[hurch] c[onference]. Arch of honor for the c[hurch] c[onference]."). The picture shows a group of four men standing under an arch decorated with plants. On the left the church building. Next to it an archway with a church bell. On the right is another building with a thatched roof and surrounded by a wooden fence. Three trees stand in the center of the picture. In the foreground a dog. Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930."). The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
