“Do you wonder I went nearly mad? This was a bad compound fracture.” Group portrait of stretcher bearers carrying a patient across a river. Capt. Irvine was posted with the Fitzcol and tended to the medical needs of the Carrier Corps this is after the column was involved in a skirmish at Namirrue. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
