Entrance to the school, Wittewater, South Africa, 1934

"Wittewater: Eingang der Schule, die Schüler gehen im Takt hinein, rechts die Knaben, links die Mädchen ein fast weißer Knabe in der Mitte gibt den Takt durch Händeklatschen an." ("Wittewater: Entrance of the school, the schoolchildren walk in time into the school, right hand the boys, left hand the girls an almost white boy in the center gives the time by clapping his hands."). The picture shows an open entrance door and the wall of the stairs leading up to the door. The entrance is surrounded by squared stones. Above the entrance a slab with the inscription: "GOD IS LOVE". The picture shows four boys, a girl and two men of African origin on the stairs. In the middle of the stairs stands another boy of light skin color. Written on the card board: "22.2.34. P. Theile."
