Main hospital building, Chogoria, Kenya, September 1926

"Main Building." External view of the Hospital at Chogoria. This hospital was electrically powered and could house up to 60 patients. Yaws was the most common medical complaint with an estimated 2,000 cases dealt with in 1926, and Tuberculosis also common. In 1933 average hospital attendances was 15,000 with 1,000 annual injections to treat yaws. The face was a common site for leprous nodules.
