Group portrait of 18 missionaries in front of a European style house (church?), fifth from left is missionary Hans Fuchs. Hans Fuchs (1875-1934), from Middle Franconia, served the Leipzig Mission in East Africa. In 1897 he moved to the Kamba mission in Jimba, soon after he worked in Mbungu and for the Chagga mission. In 1899 he was delegated to missionary Müller in Machame. One year later the station in Shigatini was founded by him. In 1916 he was declared as prisoner of war for four years. In 1928 he returned to Shigatini. During an official trip he died in Mwika.
