The shop in Mamre, South Africa, 1930

1930

"Mamre. Der Laden mit Kiefer davor." ("Mamre. The shop with a pine in front of it."). The picture shows a small building to the right which is the shop. A car is standing in front of the building. On the left a pine tree. Other trees in the background. The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
