Tarr posing at a waterfall, Maseno, Nyanza province, Kenya, 1918

1918

“Tarr posing! One day we went over Maseno Mission – 11 miles away. We were greatly taken with it all.” Landscape view of a river and waterfall with Mr Tarr standing in a hunting pose with rifle raised. The Maseno mission was a CMS station run by the Rev. A E Pleydell. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
