The church building, Elim, South Africa, 1930

1930

"Elim. Die Kirche." ("Elim. The church."). The picture shows a white church building with a thatched roof. In front of it a hedge and five big trees. Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930."). The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
