People on the mission premises, Mamre, South Africa, ca.1930

"Die Werf in Mamre nach der Versammlung." ("The mission premises in Mamre after the congregation."). In the foreground are several Africans of different ages. Some buildings of the mission station and people in the background. Many trees. The word "Werf" is a term taken from Afrikaans meaning "premises" or "yard". -- The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
