"Elims Aussenstation Sondagskloof: die neue Kapelle. Inschrift 1928. 1 Petri 2 V. 8. Davor Br. Tietzen und W. Schaberg." ("Outstation of Elim Sondagskloof: the new chapel. Inscription 1928. 1 Petri 2 V. 8. In the front Br[other] Tietzen and W. Schaberg."). The picture shows a white church building with stairs leading to its entrance door. In front of the church two men of European origin who wear suits. Behind the church a smaller building with a big stove and chimney outside the building on the left. A wall surrounds it. In front of the door in the wall a woman of probably African origin. On the left and right of the picture trees. Hills in the background. Written on the card board: "17.2.34. P. Theile." Gustav Theodor Tietzen (1893-1973) was born in Berthelsdorf near Herrnhut and worked as a missionary in Elim and Moravian Hill (Cape Town) from 1922 to 1927 and in East Africa from 1927 to 1939. He later returned to South Africa West to work as a missionary from 1959 to 1960 before he went back to Germany. Willibald Paul Schaberg (1900-?) was a missionary in South Africa West from 1929 to 1939 and again from 1948 onwards. It is not known when he stopped working or died.
