The big mountain of Genadendal, South Africa, 1930

1930

"Der Gnadenthaler Berg." ("The mountain of Genadendal."). In the foreground are roofs of some houses. Behind them are trees. The mountain is in the background. The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
