"Ipyana. Nach dem Gottesdienst. Br. Hennig." ("Ipanya. After service. Br[other] Hennig."). Two groups of African children and teenagers sitting on the ground. A large group of Christians, half of them dressed in white, standing from the left to the right in front of a church building made from bricks. Missionary Hennig with his arms crossed is standing among them to the right. Trees in the foreground and background. Cf. photo no. 1653. -- Paul Otto Hennig (1857-1928) became a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine in South Africa after he had married Elsbeth Gemuseus in 1891. There he serves as head of the church assembly, superintendent and also as chairman of the German mission directorate from 1906 onwards. He visited East Africa in 1905/06.
