House and garden of the head of the church assembly, Rungwe, Tanzania, ca. 1909-1916

"Rungwe. Der Garten des Präses mit dem Wohnhaus im Hintergrund. Rosenhecken. Schw. Meyer-Lebart." ("Rungwe. Garden of the head of the church assembly and residential house in the background. Hedges of roses. Sis[ter] Meyer-Lebart."). Path with several small stairs made from bricks leading up to the porch of a two-story tile-roofed house at the foot of which Sister Meyer-Lebart is standing. The path is sided by rose hedges, trees and other plants. The outline of a mountain in the background. Olga Johanna Meyer-Lebart (1860 in Suriname -- 1945) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine in East Africa after having gotten married to Theodor Meyer (1864-1933) in 1909. In 1916 she was interned for the following three years after which she returned to Germany together with her husband and there retired in 1925.
