"Negerhütte" ("Negro hut"). A traditional Chagga hut. The hut is elliptical and has a peaked top. It is covered with grass. Behind the hut banana plants. In front of the entrance an African boy with banana leaves. The picture was probably taken by Johannes Schanz (1876-1963). He worked as a missionary of the Leipzig Mission in Moshi and Mamba from 1901 to 1910.
