An Italian's house, Marangu, Tanzania, ca.1901-1910

"Das Haus eines Italieners (Mongardi) in Marangu" ("An Italian's (Mongardi) house in Marangu"). The house stands in a cleared area in between trees and bushes. It is made of stone. The main house consists of two buildings, each with a roofed porch. There is an additional stone building on the front right. Further right a roofed construction resembling a shed. Cf. photo no. 282. -- The picture was probably taken by Johannes Schanz (1876-1963). He worked as a missionary of the Leipzig Mission in Moshi and Mamba from 1901 to 1910.
