Miss. Gutmann mit Familie ("Miss[ionary] Gutmann with family"). Group portrait of Bruno Gutmann with wife and four children in front of a house. Bruno Gutmann (1876-1966), from Dresden, studied theology before moving to East Africa with the Leipzig Mission in 1902. Apart from his work in Masama he is well-known for his study of the Chagga people. For health reasons he had to return to Germany in 1908, but only one year later he came back to Masama. Until 1939, with some interruptions, he served in Kidia, the station Old Moshi.
