The one from Berlin was not [a] teacher."). The picture shows five men. The man in the middle is of European the others of African or mixed origin. All wear suits and ties. The man in the middle holds a dark colored hat in his left hand. The group stands in front of a white wall. Written on the card board: "16.2.34. P. Theile." Willibald Paul Schaberg (1900-?) was a missionary in South Africa West from 1929 to 1939 and again from 1948 onwards. It is not known when he stopped working or died. Karl Hermann Birnbaum (1868-1939) was a missionary from 1897 to 1939. He was first a missionary in Elim and the head of the school and the mill. In 1900 he worked in Goedverwacht and the outstations. In 1905 he started working in Moravian Hill and Maitland, Cape Town. In 1914 he went back to Elim where he died in 1939.
