Brother Stolz and a caravan, Unyamwezi, Tanzania, ca.1898-1914

"Eine Karawane. Br. Stolz" ("A caravan. Brother Stolz"). African porters carrying different objects, among them a pram and a bed. On the right brother Stolz with a large hat. Adolf Ferdinand Stolz (17.1.1871 in Enon, South Africa - 26.12.1917 in Tübingen, Germany) was a mission trader of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine in Ipanya from 1898 to 1902 and in Kyimbila from 1903 to 1914. He was responsible for the plantations in Kyimbila and Rutenganio. In 1898 he married Helene Elisabeth, née Kootz (1872-1899) in Niesky, in 1903 Anna, née Schulze in Rungwe. Stolz returned to Germany in 1914.
